My partner in crime goes by the name of Alan, who I met in 2010. At the time we actually worked within the same organisation but our paths had never really crossed. We shared a love of wildlife and getting out in nature, something we’re still passionate about today. We also shared a love of different musical genres, including rock and metal. However, I did find a Spice Girls CD in his collection once and that shattered all my expectations!
Viva Las Vegas!
In 2015 Alan proposed and in 2016 we got married in Las Vegas. We’d both been married before and wanted to do things ‘our way’. We got married in Graceland Wedding Chapel, the oldest wedding chapel in Vegas, apparently. Vegas was an amazing experience and we’d both love to go back. When we got home we had a reception for family and friends. I’d managed to keep it secret from Alan for an entire year that I’d arranged an Elvis impersonator to sing at the reception. Alan was more than a little stunned when the curtains were pulled back to reveal Elvis swinging his hips. If I remember rightly, I think Alan’s exact words were “What the f**k?!”.
Having fun with Elvis (he’s not dead after all).
Alan has never questioned the interests or goals that I have wanted to pursue. He supports me, no question. There are times when I have questioned whether or not to go ahead with something for fear of what other people may think, but I know Alan will talk sense to me. I like to think I am just as supportive of him too. He enjoys his photography and I’d like to see him go further with it. Not just because I know he can, but more because I believe that if you are passionate about something you should immerse yourself in it.
How does your partner and/or your friends support you?
